COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., February 3, 2023 — A local family foundation will match up to $400,000 in donations to Feeding America West Michigan’s Nourish Tomorrow campaign. The campaign aims to turn what was MC Sport’s distribution center in Kentwood into the food bank’s new headquarters and distribution center.
The campaign’s initial fundraising goal was $6 million. However, lasting effects of the pandemic caused construction costs to be significantly higher than the food bank anticipated and therefore the organization has not yet raised enough funds to renovate its new facility and expand programs as planned. The organization’s new fundraising goal is $9 million.
To date, the campaign has received over $8 million in support, including a $2 million gift from Meijer and $2 million in ARPA funding. The $800,000 the food bank could receive through this dollar-for-dollar match from a local family foundation would enable the organization to reach its new goal.
Donations can be made online at FeedWM.org/NourishTomorrow or checks can be sent to the organization’s administrative office at 1950 Waldorf St NW, Suite 10B Grand Rapids, MI 49544. Questions about donations to this campaign can be directed to Emma LeFranc, Donor Relations Manager, at 616.389.6352 or EmmaLF@FeedWM.org.
