Just like some families face barriers to putting food on the table when school’s out in the summer, many also feel their budgets strain when kids are home around the holiday season. Mobile Food Pantries and holiday food distributions, which many of our partners provide at the end of the year, help neighbors experiencing challenges celebrate and maintain traditions with family.
Last year, Roberta, a mom of two young children, attended a holiday food distribution right before Thanksgiving. She has a career in home health care but needed a little extra help around the holiday season. At the distribution, she received bags of holiday food, including ham and side dishes.
“This is going to help a lot,” she said. “We’ll have this for the holiday, and then have leftovers for a while, too.”
The food helped Roberta make the day special for her family, including her two young children.
“It would be a normal day without this food,” she said. “I’m grateful for the food and really thankful for all the blessings we have.”
