COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., Jan. 20, 2022 — Planet Fitness donated funds equivalent to 135,000 meals’ worth of food to Feeding America West Michigan in 2021, becoming a gold partner after hitting the 80,000 meal mark.
The fitness company first donated to the food bank in April of last year, but that wasn’t the only form of support they provided! Staff from Planet Fitness gyms volunteered at Mobile Pantries, where they helped fill their food insecure neighbors’ cars with groceries.
Their partnership helped the food bank run its Mobile Food Pantry program in 2021, and they’re continuing this partnership into the new year.
Mary Scott, Planet Fitness’ director of marketing, was featured in the food bank’s 40 Years 40 Faces series.
“With the financial implications of the pandemic, we learned that more people than ever before were needing food bank assistance,” she said. “It seemed natural to partner with an organization like Feeding America West Michigan, who was helping people right in the communities we serve.”
