COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., April 29, 2020 — Feeding America West Michigan is sponsoring 14 Meet Up and Eat Up meal sites in Kent County this summer to ensure children have access to nutritious meals while school’s not in session.

The food bank will provide shelf stable, prepackaged lunches and snacks to the sites, all hosted by Kent District Library branches. All youth up to age 18 can attend the sites to receive free meals, Monday to Friday, from June 15 through August 14. Meal times vary by location.

“In addition to the much needed food provided to children, the relationship with Kent District Library branches will provide children with literacy support,” said Shay, the food bank’s programs coordinator.

The Meet Up and Eat Up program is managed by the Michigan Department of Education, so sites sponsored by Feeding America West Michigan are among hundreds operating throughout the state. Neighbors in need can call 2-1-1, or text “food” to 877-877 to find a site near them or for more information.

Feeding America West Michigan is an equal opportunity employer and provider. More information is available here.
