Walker, Mich. — Dec. 1, 2016 — Grand Rapids beer lovers take note: On Thursday, Dec. 1, the Applebee’s in Walker is hosting a Right Brain Brewery tap takeover. But they’re doing more than pulling tap handles: 20 percent of all food and drink sales will be donated to Feeding America West Michigan.

The potential impact is enormous: For every dollar donated to Feeding America West Michigan, the organization can provide four meals to people in need in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. The fundraiser comes at a critical time, as the food bank is on track to distribute 29 million pounds of food in 2016, more than in any previous year. (Download the Press Release)

Five of Right Brain’s beers will be on tap at Applebee’s: CEO Stout, Northern Hawk Owl, Cakewalk, Concrete Dinosaur, and Naughty Girl Stout, a seasonal ale boasting notes of chocolate and mint. Descriptions of Right Brain’s offerings can be found on their website.

The tap takeover is just the latest event to come out of Feeding America West Michigan’s Hops Against Hunger initiative, which unites local breweries and restaurants with big-hearted beer geeks dedicated to making a difference in their community.

Past Hops Against Hunger participants include New Holland Brewing Company, HopCat, Terra GR Restaurant and Greenbush Brewing Company.

Applebee’s is located at 4475 Lake Michigan Drive NW. For more details and to RSVP, visit the event page on Facebook.
