Grand Rapids, Mich. — November 12, 2015 — Terra GR is running a month-and-a-half-long food and fund drive for Feeding America West Michigan, starting Sunday. Restaurant patrons are encouraged to donate money or nonperishable foods for the hunger-relief organization when they visit. Terra GR is offering $5 gift certificates to every donor.

“As a restaurant that works closely with local farmers, we just believe in the importance of providing fresh, healthy food to people — customers or not. Supporting Feeding America West Michigan is our way of making sure that everybody in our community has access to good food,” said general manager Chris McDonald.

“You get the sense that Terra means what they say when they talk about their commitment to working with and improving the local food system,” said Andrew Steiner, communications specialist for Feeding America West Michigan. “They’ve supported us again and again over the years, bringing funding and awareness to the issue of local hunger.”

One in seven people is food insecure in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, the region Feeding America West Michigan serves. The Food Bank is on track to distribute 27 million pounds of food — it’s largest amount ever — by the end of the year.

All participants in Terra GR’s food and fund drive will receive a $5 gift certificate redeemable at the restaurant in January and February, with the exception of Jan. 1 and Feb. 13 and 14.

Terra GR is located at 1429 Lake Drive SE in Grand Rapids.
